There are many diverse and distinct neighborhoods within SE Portland. They include: Brooklyn, Buckman, Belmont, Creston-Kenilworth, Eastmoreland, Hawthorne, Kerns, Laurelhurst, Lents, Montavilla, Mt. Scott, Mt. Tabor, Sellwood-Moreland, and Woodstock. Each neighborhood is most definitely diverse and unique and offers housing options for all budgets: on the higher end, Laurelhurst and Eastmoreland, and on the lower end, Lents and Woodstock.
SE Portland is home to many parks and recreational activities. Most parks offer play structures, green spaces, trails, and more. Some of the larger parks include: Laurelhurst Park, Mt. Tabor Park, Sellwood Park, and Westmoreland Park. Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, over 10 acres of garden houses over 2,500 rhododendrons, azaleas, and companion plants. The spring-fed Crystal Springs Lake surrounds much of the garden, attracting many species of birds and waterfowl. Parents enjoy the serenity of the garden, while children enjoy feeding the ducks and the squirrels!
Residents of SE Portland are part of the Portland Public School district. Portland Public Schools is an urban school district in Portland, Oregon. With approximately 46,000 students in more than 85 schools, it is the largest school district in the Pacific Northwest.
